Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. SnipSize processes photos and videos entirely in your browser with WebAssembly. Your media never leaves your device.
How does video target-size compression work?
Pick a preset such as 8 MB or 25 MB (or a custom size). SnipSize estimates bitrate from duration and encodes locally so the output aims for that file size.
Which image formats can I export?
You can export WebP, AVIF, JPEG (MozJPEG), and PNG, with quality and optional resize controls depending on the format.
What video formats are supported?
Common inputs include MP4, MOV, and WebM. Output is H.264 MP4 for broad compatibility.
Which browsers work best?
Modern Chromium, Firefox, and Safari with WebAssembly support. Video encoding needs a recent browser; SharedArrayBuffer-related headers are already configured for FFmpeg.wasm.
Is SnipSize free?
Yes. The compression tools on this site are free to use. Account features are not available yet.
